The Main Event - 08.08.09 It's official: Mark your calendars, make your travel plans, get off work and plan on spending the evening of Saturday, August 8th, 2009 with your fellow classmates. We'll be at Bacchanalia in Overland Park, KS. Click here to view their website. We're planning on a buffet dinner, cash bar, dancing, entertainment and a whole lot of fun. Fun Web Sites for people in the later 40s Here are a couple of websites that will bring tears to your eyes as you remember the 70's. The first is a collection of family photos from Olan Mills photos with snappy captions added for your enjoyment. See these images don't conjure up memories of being taken to the studio for the family photo. In addition, you'll love to see a similar site that features a 1977 JC Penney catalog. (Parental discretion advised TV14-L warning: this has the word *ss) You'll be shocked to believe that not only did people dress like this, but they also thought it was cool! Class Report Our reunion will be administered through the Class Report website. Please create your own user name and login by visiting the site and taking 10 minutes to update your personal information, write a short bio and upload a current picture. Your name has already been loaded for our class. Click here to register for the first time. Your name is already entered in the directory. Just enter your username (your email) and create a password and then you're in. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR USING THIS SITE. Only people who have logged in, my see others information if they decide to share it. This site will be our "address book" and "memory book" all in one. My hope is that every single member of our class would have the opportunity to reconnect and attend our reunion. Is there someone that you can track down for us. Glenn Tobin recently put his picture up on Facebook. As I was reading the paper this morning and saw that the Jonas Brothers have a 3-D movie opening this weekend, I came to realize that Glenn was separated at birth and probably was a Jonas Brother. I think Glenn couild have been the spitting image for the Jonas Brother on the left back in the day. (Apologies to Glenn. You know I love you. Update Thanks for sending me updates on classmates as well as email addresses. At this point we have 65 classmates on our Facebook page (Where the reunion has already begun) as well as email addresses for 167 classmates. We've located all of the class officers pictured here with the Simulator from Driver's Ed. (I did fail my school driving test with Dave Smith at 79th and Santa Fe because he had to use the 2nd brake... "What were you trying to DO?" Oh, the shame.) I've uploaded the entire 7th Grade of Broadmoor Junior HS (1973-74) - I've learned amazing things. For example, we now know that counselor Mike Dietrich was actually Leonard Nimoy's evil twin and had green blood. (We need some Hillcrest Highlander pictures!) I've uploaded my grade school pictures as well from my Cherokee classroom photos. If you have a photo, please scan it and put it up on the web for us all to enjoy! There are plenty of great photos from Osage, Sequoia, Tomahawk, Pawnee, Overland Park, Apache that we could all be enjoying! I mean who has that style of hair on the right. Reunion News

Our Main Event will be held Saturday, August 8th at Bacchanalia in Overland Park, KS.

The reunion committee met again on Sunday, February 8th at Lydia Butler's home.

We met with two reunion planners. The first one left and ended up backing into Dan Stinson's motorcycle. Bummer. After we found out that the insurance would cover Dan's bike, we ended up hiring Remember Me Reunions to do our event. We hope to nail down a site and date as soon as possible. We hope Dan's bike will be fixed soon as well.

Dan Stinson, Class President located Eva Allen Peters was able to find Dan Stinson. He lives in the Greater Kansas City Area and plans to be at our reunion committee is meeting this coming Sunday. We hope to finalize the date for the reunion very soon. We are currently looking at the last weekend in July, but nothing is set in stone. We'll keep you posted on the update. Six Degrees of Separation Dean Johnson says "Hello Vikings, please send your email to Jim and the reunion committee." My hope was that we could collect 200 email addresses in two weeks. In just 8 days, we have found 110 email addresses. Just reply to send me any emails you may know and we'll keep the ball rolling. Click here for a list of those with emails we've found. Got a great photo? I've been scanning some old photos and plan to put them up on facebook and share some in upcoming newsletters. If you've got a great photo, send it to me and I'll try to use it in a future photo gallery or newsletter. These are a lot of fun to take a look at after so many years. Click on the photo to see a larger image. Facebook Group Click here to join the Facebook group. There are currently 39 classmates who have a profile on Facebook. It's a great way to get your reunion started early! If you need help, just talk to someone between 12 - 25 and they can get your started. Become friends with your old friends, get reacquainted and be a part of communication central for the class of 1979. It's a great way to start your reunion now! And as those who are on Facebook already know, it's a pretty sly way to keep an eye on the kids! Membership is free. Free is good. Trivia Quiz Pictured on the right is an image from my diploma that I received on May 29th, 1979. You may not have ever looked at it closely, but there's a major error in the picture of our alma mater inside the flap. See if you can spot it. Maybe they didn't pay the artist enough? Maybe the fee was based on the number of words that could be included and the extra word was going to break the budget, who knows? I just know that 558 of us received damaged goods.
