Update
Thanks for sending me updates on classmates as well as email addresses. At this point we have 65 classmates on our Facebook page (Where the reunion has already begun) as well as email addresses for 167 classmates. We've located all of the class officers pictured here with the Simulator from Driver's Ed. (I did fail my school driving test with Dave Smith at 79th and Santa Fe because he had to use the 2nd brake... "What were you trying to DO?" Oh, the shame.)
I've uploaded the entire 7th Grade of Broadmoor Junior HS (1973-74) - I've learned amazing things. For example, we now know that counselor Mike Dietrich was actually Leonard Nimoy's evil twin and had green blood. (We need some Hillcrest Highlander pictures!) I've uploaded my grade school pictures as well from my Cherokee classroom photos. If you have a photo, please scan it and put it up on the web for us all to enjoy! There are plenty of great photos from Osage, Sequoia, Tomahawk, Pawnee, Overland Park, Apache that we could all be enjoying!
We are working hard on nailing down a great place to hold our reunion and hope to get both the date and the venue secured in the next 10 days. Click here to view the SMWest79.com website. If you see a classmate around town, just tell them to check out "SMWEST79.com" to visit the site and they can reconnect from there.
Class Report
Our reunion will be administered through the Class Report website. Please create your own user name and login by visiting the site and taking 10 minutes to update your personal information and upload a current picture. Your name has already been loaded for our class. Click here to view the site. Click here to register for the first time. Your name is already entered in the directory. Just enter your username (your email) and create a password and then you're in. THERE IS NO CHARGE
FOR USING THIS SITE. Only people who have logged in, my see others information if they decide to share it. This site will be our "address book" and "memory book" all in one.
Phone a friend
I believe that we can track people down better than anyone else. If you know how to contact someone from our class who is currently on the "lost" list, please give them a phone call or forward them this email to reconnect. My hope is that every single member of our class would have the opportunity to reconnect and attend our reunion. Is there someone that you can track down for us. Our reunion company will work hard at doing this, but I'd love to see us make the first call if we can.
Spotted someone around town but don't have any details? Leave them on our Rumours page. Steve Klingler left this note:
I have seen several MIA in town -
Jeff Modig
Sharon May
Julie Yessen
Robin Morris
Cheri Person (sighted by my brother)
I won't give specifics about locations, 'cause maybe they wish to remain that way? Just know at last sightings (some years old), they were alive & (reasonably) well.
Facebook Group
The reunion is already underway at our group site at Facebook.com. We now have 65 people from our class on our Facebook group and add a few more every week. Since the last email the following have joined: Glenn Tobin (Washington, DC),Tom Koehn, Mark McVey (Kansas City, MO), Ray L League (Kansas City, MO), Deanne Rathbun Arensberg (Topeka, KS), Jana Kay Sander, Jay Crowder (Kansas City, MO), Mary Pat Kuehl (Houston, TX), Leslie Orme Greenwood, DeAnn Boline Hunter (Kansas City, MO), Timothy White (Omaha, NE), Gretchen Peterson Lawson (Las Vegas, NV), Marc Ellen (Ventura County, CA), Lisa Finan Bower, Steven Douglas Miller. Click here to join the Facebook group.
The biggest challenge that many of us face is uploading a picture so your profile doesn't look like the picture at the right. I mean who has that style of hair on the right. If you're having trouble uploading a picture, just ask a local 4th grader to help you.
Emails; Corrections; Information; Misspelled names, etc. Please reply and send my way! I'd be really interested in any videos; unique pictures from our class as well. This is how Deanne Rathbun Arensburg kept from freezing her lip to her flute in the 70s. (Click on photo for larger image.)
This email is being sent to 167 members of the Class of 1979.
